For serious practitioners, teachers and therapists in the Viniyoga tradition, guidance on the path through a relationship with a primary teacher or mentor is an important part of the tradition.
Mentoring can also include support/tutoring in programs of study for teachers and therapists currently enrolled in professional training programs.
Mentoring provides an outside perspective
What makes you eligible?
After you’ve had your consult call and we’ve decided to work together, what to expect:
We will first talk together about you goals and history, and begin with some simple breath and movement. You will leave with an introductory practice.
We will refine and deepen your practice together.
Some meet weekly, others monthly, or a few times a year. Recommendations depend on your present state and goals.
Mentor sessions run $125-180; honor system sliding scale.
We reserve two deeply reduced sliding scale spots for dedicated practitioners with financial need beyond or standard scale.
We accept cash, check, PayPal, Venmo.
Frequency of meeting depends on the individual.
For some, meeting two or three times a year is enough, time to refine and grow the home practice.
For others (especially if enrolled in a professional training program), meeting as often as monthly or weekly can be appropriate.
I have extensive formal training, but my main credential is decades of daily personal practice.
My personal mentor is Chase Bossart (of Yoga Well Institute). Gary Kraftsow oversees my personal practice (American Viniyoga Institute). My mentor before Chase and Gary was Dawn Summers (of New Dawn Yoga Therapy). I've studied within the tradition with Dolphi Wertenbaker, Amy Wheeler, and Leslie Kaminoff.
I am International Association of Yoga Therapists Certified to practice Yoga Therapy in the Viniyoga Tradition.
I hold an MA in Counseling Psychology and am registered as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist.
I hold a BA in Studio Art (glass and ceramics) and practiced as a conceptual artist, across mediums, for many years.
The root of these three callings is one and the same: cultivating the space to have a moment of perspective- to stop, take a breath, feel the feet on the ground and become aware- these moments bring us into connection with ourselves and others, and I've devoted my life's work to that.
Experience with Viniyoga in a private or group setting is required. The amount of experience is negotiable if the commitment to daily practice and willingness for honest self-reflection is strong.
